Part of the problem is Tumblr knows exactly what blogs to recommend to me. I love ALL of them.

Monthly Media: July 2014

Sooo this month I started using PLEX to host my own media server. As a result I will most likely be watching a lot more stuff in the future and catching up on a lot of things. :)

FILM:

The Alien Movies
Since I was without internet for a good portion of this month I decided to dig into my Alien Anthology Blu Ray box set. And good lord, it is easy to forget how long these movies are. And it also easy to forget how good *some* of the special effects were back in the day. It wasn’t until Alien 3 that the bad CG started to show. I still need to watch Alien Resurrection as I’ve forgotten most of that movie as well. And seeing these films again is getting me excited for Alien Isolation. SO MUCH ALIEN. On a side note: I just ordered all the Predator movies as well so I shall be rewatching those fairly soon.

Robots (2005)
This movie is somewhere on my top 10 list. So much imagination and creativity went into this I almost can’t handle how amazing it is. Creative and funny characters. A very fleshed out world. Awesome voice acting. And the physical comedy is perfect. I wish Blue Sky would stop making sequels to Ice Age and give me another one of these!

MUSIC:

Mandatory Fun by “Weird Al” Yankovic (2014)
It’s easy to forget how good at parodying music this wacky man is. The first song I heard from his new album was “Word Crimes” and I remembered not only how funny his songs are but how freaking informative they are as well. No one does parodies as well as Weird Al.

Ooh. Waffle Dog by Weebl’s Stuff
This was half trip down memory lane and half “Oh wow these songs are actually really catchy.” Not much else to add to that.

READING:

Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley (2014)
Being a big fan of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, I kind of figured this book would be right up my ally. Which it is and then some. I looove the characters in this so far and I can tell Bryan’s character design has improved a lot since his previous book along with his background. The coloring is wonderful as well (further encouraging me to drop another $80 on the color versions of Scott Pilgrim). If you love his work please please pick this book up. It is too much fun.

GAMING:

Super Mario 3D World (2014) (Wii U)
This is the only new game that I picked up this week. So far it has been tons of fun. I though the odd locked camera was going to bother me but now I’ve learned not to worry about it and I think it has improved my platforming skills since I only need to focus on where I’m going. Also: the cat suit is pretty awesome. Never thought I’d say such a thing but there it is. Love the level design and how. Fucking. Colorful. This game is. I give it stars out of stars.

SOMETHING IMPORTANT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION

So I get emails from Amazon about new DVD and Blu Ray releases. This morning I was greeted with this:

Now, why is this important? Because season 1 was released FOUR YEARS AGO. Along with season 1 of Dexter’s Lab and Johnny Bravo. Basically this opens up the possibility that Cartoon Network may FINALLY release these beloved series in their entirety. That they may possibly be given the treatment of cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls. That we can finally have a physical version of all these awesome cartoons. (They are technically available in full digitally.)

Also, it’s important to note that Ed, Edd n Eddy only have 2 of their 6 seasons released on DVD. Of course you can access them digitally. But still, how hard is it to put out the rest on DVD?
